Created in 1996, the Faculty of Economics plays an important role as a link in the academic chain between the Swiss-German tradition of economic studies - focused on business administration and financial theory - and the Northern Italian one, centered around political economy and public economics.
The Faculty of Economics aims to build on a combination of these two assets to produce a unique and competitive product. Bearing in mind that Lugano is Switzerland’s third-largest financial centre, the Faculty directs much of its efforts onto teaching and research in finance-related disciplines.
